History

Our History

I recall having spent my childhood and adolescent years playing amongst wood shavings, sawdust, and pieces of wood in my dad’s shop. He often told me stories of his father and grandfather who were also furniture makers in their native land of Spain. Within me, a great love and admiration for this craft began to awaken. This led me to enroll in the vocational school in Ponce, Puerto Rico where I dedicated my studies to the art of cabinetry and graduated in 1963.

In 1965, after having served two years in the United States Army, I returned to Ponce to establish my own woodworking shop. I relocated to the state of Florida in 1978 where for years I honed my craft and became familiar with the tastes of local and international clientele with respect to design and production of fine custom furniture. In 1985, my labor of love and the desire for greater excellence culminated in the establishing of Davila Woodwork. Finally, I was able to assemble a team of craftsmen to meet the highest expectations of both myself and the most demanding of patrons.

For the past thirty years, Davila Woodwork has been successful in delivering the quality creations our clients have come to expect. The vision continues with my son Carlos Davila Jr., a fifth-generation master artisan, who has studied under my instruction as well as that of other proud craftsmen.

Carlos Jr. now leads Davila Woodwork with the perfect blend of innovative ideas and “old-world” attention to detail. Currently, he collaborates with the most distinguished furniture designers and decorators in the industry. This can only be obtained by continuing the very ideals our business was built upon. We at Davila Woodwork are committed to providing our clients with the best owning experience of custom furniture through superior service, integrity, and quality second to none.
